"This company is a total scam"
This company is a total scam. I never signed up to this business, never purchased anything from them and never had an account with them. They started taking £9.99 a month from my account in Aug 2021 (increasing to £10.99 a month in April 2022). I had no way of cancelling these payments as I did not have an account with them and therefore could not log in to their website. The only interaction I have ever had with this company is in April 2012 when I read something using Scribd on Facebook and they emailed me. This was over nine years before they then started taking money from me. TOTAL scam.

"Close to scam…"
I was lured into their online site to download a pdf. However I tried to cancel multiple times afterwards as I didn’t find anything else of value. Close to impossible to cancel, and after months of trying to cancel I’m not yet sure if off the hook. Stay away!

"No refund"
I was charged a monthly fee even though I canceled my subscription like a few weeks ago. I've tried to contact them but to this day without an answer or a solution. The next monthly payment was scheduled for the 18th of May, and I canceled the subscription 22nd of April! And today on the 11th of May came a notification from my bank that I was charged 10.99e from Scribd.com!! which is the price for their monthly fee. Your app is great for research or other things, but the lack of customer service and problems with fees are terrible. Still expecting to hear from you and to solve this and for a refund!

"Useless and Liars"
Told me they would send an email before the first payment out of my account was made after the free trial. They did not do this and continued to take 2 months payment out of my account. Absolutely furious! Will be contacting someone in charge to get my money back!

"Support Ignores You"
I unsubscribed from the application, but an error occurred and the subscription was not stopped. The application charged me a monthly fee, and immediately after 5 minutes after the payment was withdrawn, I asked for help with stopping the subscription and returning my funds. However, for more than 12 days I have not received any response, although the description of the support service indicates that I will be contacted within 7 days. I had high hopes for the app because it is well made. But ignoring tickets destroys the whole impression. If you'd respect your customers and responded to tickets in a timely manner, you could get a permanent customer. But according to situation, I will leave feedback everywhere about the poor quality of support, hoping that other clients will not encounter such problems as I did.

Why are books available and then all of a sudden they are no longer available until a certain date. Scribd was so amazing at one time but it’s been so terrible lately. It’s super disappointing because I’ve had this for well over a year and I really just want to cancel bc it’s not worth it anymore.

"Really great for audiobooks"
I have been using scribd since last year, mostly for audiobooks, and I have really liked it. I did unsubscribe for a short while and had no issue, though my subscription was through apple so when I did unsubscribe it was through my apple subscriptions settings. I know some people have issues with books becoming unavailable if you go through too many, but my pace for audiobooks is probably 3 a month at most so I haven’t run into that problem. I also had some confusion on when I would be charged next (I received a subscription as a gift for my birthday) and when I contacted customer service (after going through the chat-bot first) they responded to my ticket within 2 days and were pleasant and able to resolve the confusion (it was mostly a weird wording thing, not any actual threat of an early charge) and they said they will look into updating things so that it is more clear for everyone. I’m kind of sad to see such bad reviews here. Most of my books on my tbr list have been available as an audiobook so far, and I think this is a great alternative to audible.

They limit the amount of books you can read or listen to every month. I have books become available on the day I pay and 3 days later most are back on the “available next month” list. It’s so frustrating especially when I’ve started one and they remove access mid way through.

"Scribed is a totally annoying website…"
Scribed is a totally annoying website that wastes your valuable time when you want to cancel your subscription. Be CAREFUL before signing up with them or they will suck $7.99 a month out of your bank acccount and then force you to jump through almost infinite loops just to simply cancel your account and leave you in peace. Using scribed may be a horrible mistake … think at least 7 times before choosing this path for your life. Seriously … do you really want to be hassled by scribed or not … as a cost benefit analysis … is the value they offer, which is high, actually worth the cost? I report … you decide

"Beware Scribd eternal subscription!"
Deceptive trade practices provide for annual renewal at then-current rate. No way to cancel once the plan automatically renews for 365 days at whatever rate Scribd extorts —nearly 30 percent for me. AI responds to disputes in an endless loop that never gets a human response. Phone customer service unavailable.

"Longtime scribd member, first time with real issues"
I've been a member for years, and its just recently that I have been having issues, as until last month I have been very happy with the app (save for the few technical issues last fall that were fixed fairly quickly.)

I saw another reviewer recently comment about content getting locked, and I am also having this issue. According to the answers that the other reviewer received and that I have gotten from customer service this is because there is a "rotating library" system. The problem is that this is not clearly disclosed to the reader what books will trigger this, and what books will be effected.

I understand that there are contracts in place that affect which books will be available based on what you read, but the fact that there is no indication of how reading a certain book will effect other books that you have saved is both problematic and an incredibly frustrating experience as a user.

I originally submitted a ticket about this on the 8th of April, which got closed 4 days later with no response. So I created a follow-up ticket which took a week to get a response. I responded to that the next morning and it took two weeks for me to get an answer this time.

I would love to have someone respond in a timely manner this time, as I would like to know which books I have saved on my list will trigger other books on my list to become locked, and I would also like to make sure that the feedback gets passed on that this "rotating library" is problematic when it is NOT communicated to the customer, and there is no transparency around what books trigger this rotation and what effect will come from it.

What I mean is: If you don't tell me that reading a certain book will lock the other books that I have saved, it becomes incredibly frustrating for me as a user, as in my case it caused ALL the things I was interested in reading (around 30 books) to suddenly be unavailable overnight... without any warning. You should give the user a warning that reading a certain book will cause other books (you could name which books specifically or just say the number of books on their specific saved list that will become locked) that they have saved to lock due to the rotating library system, so that they can choose what order to read the books in to make sure that they can read as many of the books they are actually interested in as possible each month.

I would love to get a response within 48 hours if possible this time... because I think waiting two weeks for someone to respond is ridiculous.

They have responded here promising that I will get a response in their system soon. So I’m hopeful to get a response today. Will update if they actually say anything new there, because I feel that the lack of transparency around the content rotation is an issue, and how to stop it from locking all the books you have saved is a big issue.

I was promised that someone would reach out soon, but 8 hours later and still no one has responded to my ticket with scribd. I will update again when I finally get a response. Its almost as if they took me requesting a response within 48 hours as a request for them to answer in two days. haha
